Phuket marina access to improve

Royal Phuket Marina recently received support in principle from the Phuket Governor to dredge the access channel to their marina basin, to two metres. This will make access easier for larger vessels, and safer.

Royal Phuket Marina next need to hire a consultant to look into the environmental impact of such dredging on the surrounding mangroves and the channel ecosystem, and a plan is needed for the dumping of the dredged sedmint. Permission is also required from the Marine Office. Once that has been done, the proposal can be put to a committee of local Phuket agencies who will decide.
