Maenam Travel Information Guide

Maenam is a fairly busy area offering access to most shops, markets, local thai eateries as well as a big range of resorts on the beach. Located about 15 minutes from Chaweng and 20 minutes from Nathon (main town in Samui), Maenam is a good spot for holidaymakers who want to stay central but away from the more bustling scene of places like Chaweng and Lamai. 

The beach here is popular with good smooth sand and deep water allowing for good swimming all year around.  You can choose from a wide range of high end resorts for alfresco dining and spa treatments.  Alternatively, you can enjoy the Samui of old with its more traditional and simple Thai bungalow resorts, making it ideal for families and people who wants to stay for longer periods.

Once in Maenam you can access the renowned yet challenging 18 hole Championship golf course at the Santiburi Golf & Country Club enjoying spectacular views of the island from its unique viewpoint.  Not for the faint-hearted golfer though. Not doubt, the location and elevation of this golf course makes it unique in Thailand if not in the whole of South East Asia.

Maenams great location and facilities makes it a popular choice for holidaymakers. Maenam area runs along a 4 kilometres stretch of the ring road with quite a cosmopolitan feel to it as many expatriates have settled in this area and opened up cafes and restaurants.  You will not be spoilt for choice of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Maenam as such, is considered a popular place to live and vacate, and offers a vide range of villas as resale and raw land plots.

A number of piers are situated in this area running regular services to Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and the Ang Thong national Marine Park. Watersports on this beach are popular thanks to the windy shore, why not try your hand at kite-surfing or windsurfing?  The kite-surfing school also operates from this beach.
